Henley Forest 6 vs.4 Bilton Ajax Ryan Harvey (4) Edgar Proctor Joe Bonson Henley started straight off the blocks and won a penalty as early as the 5th minute when an opposition defender took down Ryan Harvey in the area. He picked himself up though and coolly slotted the penalty home in off the post. However Bilton Ajax were let back in the game when a dubious offside decision went their way and the forward was presented with a one in one situation which he took well. Henley then slacked off a bit and when a cross looked like it had been well cleared by Bradley Rice, no one closed down the midfielder that was advancing on the edge of the box. He had time and space to control and then hit a shot into the roof of the net. Things started to go Ajax’s way after that and when a needless free-kick was given away Henley paid the price. Bilton scored directly from it leaving Forest 3-1 down after taking the lead. But we didn’t drop our heads and were rewarded with a goal, after great build up play, Ryan was sent through and although faced a tight angle neatly tucked the ball away into the far corner of the net. Soon after our hard work prevailed once again, Aaron Manton showed great wing play in the build up, he reached the by-line and whipped a great cross in. Edward Proctor headed it down for his brother to finish with aplomb. However Henley didn’t keep level for long and went behind again, when a long throw seemed to have been cleared by Matt Holtham, it was then put back into the box. Their striker swivelled well and hit a controlled half-volley into the corner of the net. Once again though, Henley kept plugging away and pulled back near half time, Jack Toy played a lobbed through ball which Ryan Harvey did well to control and then smash the ball into the net for his hat-trick. So at the interval amazingly the score was: Henley Forest 4 Bilton Ajax 4. The second half started with Bilton Ajax on top but the partnership of the two centre backs Bradley and Matt kept all attacks at bay with the two full backs, Jack and Dennis Lynch playing equally as well. Soon the pressure turned and it was Bilton on the back foot with our midfield dominating theirs. And then it happened George Wilson played a hopeful ball forward which seemed easy to clear, however a defensive mistake let in Ryan and he did the rest, scoring his fourth goal in the process. With just over 20 minutes to go Henley sealed the win when great link up play between the midfield and attack opened up their defence, setting Joe Bonson through with only the keeper to beat. Joe smashed the ball over the despairing dive into the roof of the net. Henley had completed the comeback in stunning fashion. 6-4. Bilton did have their chances but with the combination of Aaron Clark in goal and great work from defence, the score line stayed the same. Near the end of the game Jack Toy went on a great run twisting and turning defenders, unfortunately though there was no end product. A great start to the season for all involved and we hope we can carry this momentum forward into our next game. Man of Match: Jack Toy- for his all round contribution and defensive play at left back. Match Report by Bradley Rice, Managers Comments: Very Very Good performance all round, I feel that we are starting to play as a team and things will only get better. Thanks to Brad for an excellent match report, I feel he has caught the atmosphere of the game and I hope whoever does the next one will continue in the same vain.

We started the match well and were playing with the wind to try to take advantage of some early goals...but Taz were on the attack striaght away down the left wing though the Henley defence and a shot on goal is saved well from Charlie Needham who palms it but the ball is heading across the Henley goal line til Nathan Cox Jones clears it off the line..... could this be are day?? Henley are now on the charge the first goal soon came. About 10 mins into the first half a corner from the right from Tom Lang through the awaiting defence a bit of a scuffed clearance and the ball falls to Adam Williams(captain for the day) who calmly volleys it into the back of the net... 1 nil !! Henley presure continues in the first half looking for an important 2nd goal to take into the next half into the wind, but it never came... first half finishes with Henley 1 up. Second half was now going to be tough as Taz Cruisers were playing into the wind these boys are not top of the league and unbeaten this season for nothing and sure enough about 5 mins into the second period Taz goal, top corner... Charlie has no chance of the save. Henley come under lots of presure from the Cruisers who looked like scoring lots more if it wasn't for some fantastic saves From Charlie Needham... what a keeper!! the second half ends 1-1... into EXTRA TIME. First period Henley attack with the wind and start to get on top. A brilliant individual run for Tom lang get in brought down as he makes his way into the Taz box... we all think its a penalty.... but it just outside, free kick but the Taz wall is to close,Tom asks the ref to move the wall back and as they move back in to position the ref blows his Whistle and Tom takes the kick round the wall and into the corner of the goal fantastic!!! Henley now 2-1 keep going til half time. 5 minutes left and we win the cup I tell the boys thats all!! they go into the second period of exta time and play out their skins,Charlie make the most important saves of his season keeping out the Cruiser shots, some awsome tackles from Ethan Treacy and Richard Moss, brilliant midfield performances from Nathan,Adam and Justino and a superb running his heart out fromTom.. good first half performance from Elliot Stowe.
